A participatory process is a sequence of participatory activities (e.g. first filling out a survey, then making proposals, discussing them in face-to-face or virtual meetings, and finally prioritizing them) with the aim of defining and making a decision on a specific topic.
Examples of participatory processes are: a process of electing committee members (where candidatures are first presented, then debated and finally a candidacy is chosen), participatory budgets (where proposals are made, valued economically and voted on with the money available), a strategic planning process, the collaborative drafting of a regulation or norm, the design of an urban space or the production of a public policy plan.
A child, his birth certificate
#Garoua Boulaï Birth certificate against statelessness
About this process
Every child deserves to be recognised from birth. This consultation invites all stakeholders to reflect together on ways to ensure systematic birth registration and the right to identity for all.
Every child has the fundamental right to be officially recognised from birth. However, according to UNICEF, approximately 230 million children worldwide do not have a birth certificate (UNICEF, 2019), which deprives them of access to essential rights such as education, health, legal protection and citizenship.
This consultation, entitled ‘One Child, One Birth Certificate’, aims to bring together citizens, field actors, institutions and associations to identify obstacles to systematic birth registration and to co-construct solutions adapted to local realities. Together, we can guarantee every child, everywhere, a birth certificate, the first symbol of their right to identity.
We invite everyone to share their ideas, experiences and proposals to make this right a reality for all.
